A lifetime of hurt
Disappointment and Failure
That haunts each day
Going through the emotion
Smiling politely
Paying bills
Keeping up the appearance of normal
Then out of the blue
You (in a different light)That same friend
Now seen through new eyes
How could it have taken
So long to see
That all I ever needed
Was standing, all along
