Henry David Thoreau
As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind.
To make a deep physical path we walk again and again.......
To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives....

Balloon Festival
Our attempt at the Balloon Festival -- what a day -- We started out with a drive across the bay --in our attempt to see the majestic balloons fill the air at sunset -- Little did we know that winds had to be just right before even the first balloon took flight -- Hummmmmm now you would think that on a HOT day in June -- the wind would not be a problem -- boy was I wrong for what I felt(I felt nothing) and what the man with the microphone (tiny little person that I never did see) was perfect for the balloon to take flight -- he did not..........it grew late and still no balloon in flight.. While we waited and waited and waited and waited for these beautiful balloons to fill the evening/night air so we could go awwwwwwwwwww --- we took stock of all the little booths with tiny trinkets and bobbles oh my................... and some of the displays ..............tee hee ...........Now please remember we are in the SOUTH (the deep south)(ya know alligators and lighten bugs) smile we don't keep the gators as pets well not all of us anyway............. Meanwhile back to the balloons --- they were still on the ground waiting for that perfect wind change (I still felt nothing and my makeup was sliding off my face into my paper towel....) it was about to get ugly..... lol
While we did see many trinkets and tractors(yes you read that right) we saw not the first balloon in flight(saw it on the ground)...........................so off we went to STARBUCKS and home.... nothing like a coffee fix to end the day.........We still had a great time even though we saw NOT ONE BALLOON in flight...............
Take a peek at our little pictures..... Thanks for stopping by..................

The Crow
I believe there is a place
Where restless souls wonder...
Burdened by the weight of their own sadness...
Waiting for a chance to set the wrong things right...
Only then, are they reunited with the one they love....
BUT sometimes a crow shows them a way
Because sometimes LOVE is stronger than DEATH...

Glorious Iced Coffee
While I enjoy my fresh brewed coffee, in various combinations...there is just something glorious about a big ole glass of Iced Coffee... Recently I was introduced to a homespun recipe via my cousin ..... For all of you that do not know -- we are the coffee queens --- :0) I know I know you are saying get on with it already lol --- so here goes........
Rip open the bag of coffee, pour into large container and add the water.... Give it a good stir to make sure all coffee marries with the water...... don't you just love how I used the word marries like I am an actual chef... I am not but I know my coffee.....:0) Now let the coffee mixture steep for 8 hours....
Once the coffee has sat for 8 long (oh my word hurry up and be ready) hours....you may then start the next process.....this includes pouring the brew through a mesh strainer (lined with cheese cloth or in my case a napkin) into the waiting large container or picture..... This will take a minute so be patient it will be worth the wait.... then sit your coffee concoction in the fridge for an hour or two (the colder the better)
NOW that you have the coffee in your handy dandy container --- you are ready to mix and master your own favorite concoction ...... For me, I used organic soy milk (vanilla) and or (chocolate)...... splenda to sweeten.... Pour your glass a little over half full of the coffee top it off with the milk and splenda and mix..... there you have it Iced Coffee......Yummy Yummy
Note: you can use regular milk, 2% milk or half and half and sweeten your way --- I find I like soy milk with a little splenda...... And from time to time for an extra treat drizzle sweeten condensed milk in to give the coffee a to die for yumminess............
So there you have it the Iced Coffee I waited almost 9hours for.........worth the wait....PS the coffee mixture should last up to three weeks in the fridge or not depending on how much you like coffee.....lol ENJOY

- 2 gallons water

Priority
While you have been my priority………………..
I have been just your option ……..
On any given day/night I am here
Thinking of you
Wondering if you will call
Perhaps come by..
On any given day/night you are out
With the guys
Living it up thinking of just you
Never stopping to think
Of me Alone
At home (loving you)…..
So today - I am saying
I have an option too
I want to be a priority
I deserve to be at the top
Of things on your list to do
I am not an option
I am not a convenience
I am a strong loving woman
Who wants and needs
To be loved in return
Not just an option
You can randomly drop
In on from time to time
Words can hurt
Or lend relevance to
Any given situation
Am I just an option
On any given night
To you or am I more
Time to make a choice
Choose your words with care
Remember your actions
Will tell on you…

Every Woman Should Have
...One old love she can imagine
going back too...
And
One who reminds her just
how far she has come...
... enough money within her
control to move out and
rent a place of her own
even if she never wants
to or needs to....
... something perfect to wear if
the employer or date of her dreams
wants to see her in an hour...
... a youth she's content
to leave behind....
... a past juicy enough that
she's looking forward to retelling
in her old age ....
.... a set of screwdrivers, a
cordless drill, and a
Black lace bra...
... one friend who always makes her laugh
and one who lets her cry........
... a good piece of furniture
not previously owned by
anyone else in her family....
.... eight matching plates,
wine glasses with stems
and a recipe for meal
that make guest fell honored....
.... a feeling of control
over her destiny...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW
.... how to fall in love without
losing herself.....
....how to quit a job, break up with a lover,
and confront a friend without
ruining the friendship
.... when to try harder
and when to walk away...
.... that she cant change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips,
or the nature of her Parents.....
...that her childhood may not have been perfect
but its over.....
....what she would and wouldn't
do for love and more
.... how to live alone even if
she doesn't like it....
.... whom she can trust, whom she can't,
and why she shouldn't take it personally...
.... where to go, be it her best friend's kitchen table
or a charming inn in the woods when her soul
needs soothing....
AND
.... what she can and can't
accomplish in a day...
a month.... and a year...
(I DID NOT PEN THIS NOR DO I LAY CLAIM TO IT --- IT WAS SENT TO ME VIA EMAIL SO I THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE )

Through the Mist
I don't understand
And I am tired of trying
The long lonely nights
The constants fights
The blame game
One more time trying again
This time it is overwhelming
The fog that fills my brain,
Is heavy, hindering my view...
To see clearly...
I must keep looking ahead
Towards that small clearing
Through the mist...
Then and only then will
I find me again....
I can no longer be
The person you are trying
To CREATE........
And I am tired of trying

Empathy
Empathy is your hurt in my heart
It is your unspoken pain
Flowing as tears from my eyes.
It is my feelings of melancholy
today because of your sorrow
And it's that nervous queasy feeling
in the pit of my stomach because
you're facing a difficult task...
Empathy is also the song I sing
when you're happy
It's the exhilaration and pride
I know when you get a standing ovation
It's your joy expressing itself
In my laughter
And it's your peace that calms my heart
Empathy is your soul living in me.....
It is your unspoken pain
Flowing as tears from my eyes.

The Rest is just Sand
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 glasses of wine...
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then ask ed the students again if the jar was full.
They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous 'yes.'
The professor then produced two glasses of wine from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand.
The students laughed.
'Now,' said the professor, as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things; your family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favourite passions; things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.'
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car. The sand is everything else; the small stuff.
'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.'
'Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18. Do one more run down the ski slope. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the waste disposal. Take care of the golf balls first; the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the wine represented.
The professor smiled. 'I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of glasses of wine with a friend.'
